Jazzy Piano Standards: Stylish Arrangements of 15 Classic Songs ReviewI believe I have all of the Al Lerner piano arrangement books - Jazzy Piano Standards, Memorable Jazz Standards, and Cocktail Piano Standards - and have to say that I am very pleased with most of the arrangements in these books. Jazzy Piano Standards contains arrangements that can be played a bit more up tempo than some of the arrangements in the other books. Most of Mr Lerner's arrangements are quite short and seem to work best for me if worked into a medley of his versions, the work of other published piano arrangers, and the original sheet music released for the pieces. Some of these arrangements work best in swing tempo, while others seem best in slow rubato. All include sophisticated jazz chord progressions and clever melodic and fill figures.
