Let It Rip at the Piano: Congregational Song Accompaniments, Vol. 2 ReviewWarning! This is Volume 2. There must be a Volume 1 of this same title, and I thought this was it, since its Amazon description didn't mention a volume number. I had to return this one (as I already own it). I have yet to find Volume 1.
While these are supposedly "accompaniments" to popular (and not-so-well-known) Christian hymns, most of them stand alone as beautiful piano solos, appropriate for preludes, offertories, and/or postludes in church services. (There are no lyrics.) Each arrangement consists of an introduction and one to three variations on the melody. (Warning, the melody is sometimes missing in brief passages of some of these arrangements.)
These beautiful arrangements are of intermediate difficulty but will make you sound like an advanced musician--they are easier than they look or sound. The plastic spiral binding is ideal for sitting flat on the music stand. The sharpness and quality of the printed scores are easy on the eyes.
I use a digital piano which has several "voices" that can be combined. I like to mix different voices (such as strings, choir, vibes, or organ) with the main Grand Piano voice for some of the variations. Many of these would sound fine on an organ, but there is no bass pedal notation.Let It Rip at the Piano: Congregational Song Accompaniments, Vol. 2 Overview
