Christmas Carols: 44 Favorites with Easy Piano Arrangements (Dover Song Collections) ReviewI grew up with this beautiful book in the late 1940's into the 50's. It is basically a Christmas carol book but the carols are both secular and Christian. It does have the Christmas story written with each carol throughout the first half, along with the delicate and magical illustrations by Fern Bisel Peat. Music is illustrated as a facsimile of 17th-19th century notation on parchment, contributing to that Dickensian English winter feeling. One can hardly help being enchanted by this book. My childhood copy is a fragile, battered, greatly loved hardcover but I bought new copies in the above version from Dover books for my children and grandchildren.
